I am Marielle McKean, MA, SLP-CCC, Lauren’s younger sister and partner in this Speech Sisters venture. I am originally from Washington state, but have lived all over the Pacific Northwest and in Colorado. I am an outdoor enthusiast! Any day of the year, you can find me doing one of the following: hiking, camping, road biking, mountain biking, water skiing, or snowboarding.
I originally earned my master’s in speech-language pathology with the intent of working with school-aged children with developmental delays and found myself taken with all the areas of practice our field covers. I am impassioned for working with so many types of clients, including young children with receptive/expressive language delays, autism spectrum disorder, genetic disorders, AAC devices, sensory processing disorder, etc.
I have worked with both children and adults in the following settings: inpatient hospitals, outpatient hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, schools, private clinics, and home health. I recently started travel therapy, which means I will be working at a new location every 3 months. My work experiences have taught me how to provide services in a variety of settings and how to work with a variety of clientele.
I am thrilled for the opportunity to help clinicians, families, and educators learn how to support children with speech, language, and feeding needs. We are in the business of helping people, and my goal is to help as many people as I can reach.
